I'm fine. I never lost electricity or cable/internet.
I spoke to my mother a few minutes ago, and I'll visit her tomorrow.
My brother and sister-in-law in New Jersey haven't had power since yesterday evening. My friends in New York City lost their power last night and I assume they haven't gotten it back yet. I haven't heard from Marci since yesterday afternoon. She has a cable/internet/phone system, so when one goes, it all goes.
I hope all of you who were in Sandy's path are doing as well as possible. It was a horrific storm and it will take a long time to recover.
ETA to say I heard from Marci. She's lost all power, but she emailed me from Starbucks, so I assume she's all right (and has had some coffee).

I heard from my NYC friends. They're staying with friends for the next day or so.
And I saw my mother this morning. She's fine, but agrees with me that Sandy is a "big mess."
I just re-read the Life As We Knew It series over the past week. It makes seeing all of the pictures from New York extra crazy! I can't stop comparing scenes in my head!

You know, Sandy reminded me of the storms that took place in your books. It's kind of eerie when you remember that storms of such magnitude can really happen.

One of my friends and one of my cousins (who, as far as I know, have never met) both called to say how disconcerting it was that Hurricane Sandy damaged places the way I described in my books.
I've been thinking about rereading them, but now I'm not so sure!
Corrine, I'm going to delete your comment, because I don't think it's a good idea leaving your email out there for people to see. But as you can tell, I definitely read it.
All of the news coverage of Sandy had me thinking about The Dead and The Gone over and over again! So glad you are okay, but a little terrified at how accurately Sandy mimicked the trauma of your fictional book!
