In Stock! The Dead And The Gone Is In Stock!

I just checked my Amazon listing for the dead and the gone, and they say it's in stock. Barnes and Noble implies the same (by not saying it isn't).

Feel free to start checking your local bookstores as well. June first is early this year!

ETA: I happened to be in the neighborhood of the local Borders bookstore and compelled myself to go in and investigate. They had, indeed, ordered 5 copies of the Life As We Knew It paperback, and sold 2 of them (neither to me, but beyond that I know nothing). They also had 5 copies of the dead and the gone on order, but they hadn't come in yet.

Barring the most extraordinary and unimaginable events, this is the last such report I'll give on the subject. Only my mother should have to hear about how many copies of my books there are at different stores.

Speaking of my mother (Freda Pfeffer, to increase her Google number), I bought a digital camera over the weekend and took pictures of her at the Orange County Arboretum on Monday. I haven't figured out how to load pictures directly onto the blog yet, but since I've mastered scanning, I developed a couple of the best ones of her, scotch taped them onto a piece of light blue paper, to bring out the blue in her eyes, and here they are:

Isn't she beautiful (that's a rhetorical question, because I know she is).

Ooo, thanks for the heads up! I have the U.K. copy (I'm so impatient!) but I love the U.S. cover and have been waiting like a fat spider to buy it.

Congrats! :D

Hi Bottle-Of-Shine and thank you.

I agree, the US cover is just great, so evocative.

And while I'm thanking people, I want to thank Shaun (aka W.S.B.) for posting the first review of d&g on Amazon (always nice to start with a favorable review!) and Jen Robinson for blogging about d&g's availability.

I can never describe how good it feels to have the support of so many wonderful people who I've never met, yet feel as though I know.

I am very grateful.

I just finished “the dead & the gone” today, after getting it less than 24 hours ago. Needless to say, I loved it! Obviously, I could not put it down, lol. And I do agree, it is a very pretty, and emotional, cover.

I know that the companion novel JUST came out, but I am dying to know, are you planning there to be another companion novel or a sequel in this “series?” I must say, I am rather obsessed, haha.

Hi Janni Lee and welcome Anonymous-

I love having books both in stock and available to be seen by the semi-naked eye (I wear glasses). I drove to NYC yesterday by way of New Jersey (it now costs $8 to cross the George Washington Bridge; I am still traumatized), and stopped off at a Borders bookstore and a Barnes & Noble. Both had paperback LAWKIs, and the B&N had d&g.

I'd say how many copies, but I vowed not to anymore, on account of it's boring to everyone but me.

As far as a possible third book goes, Anonymous, I'm hoping that Harcourt will agree it's a good idea. Just in case they do, I've been playing with an idea for a book that would take place 18 years after LAWKI/d&g, and would have the major characters from both books in it, so we could all find out what happens. If you're interested in reading details, I've been blogging about the possibilities.

Thanks to both of you for your interest and caring. It makes blogging so much more fun to know people actually read it!

We read it, but we don't always have things to say.

Do you have a counter on how many times people view it??

Glen

Hi Glen-

The couple of times I've tried a counter, I've failed (my fault, not the counters').

I figure I'm happier not knowing actual numbers anyway, so I haven't tried harder to make those counters work.

Hi Anonymous-

I agree; she looks fantastic.

And chic is practically her middle name.

I second Glen's comment about not always having something to say. Although I do have to say that momma looks fantastic!
