I Don't Think I Made A Total Fool Of Myself

I don't know, because I haven't listened yet (I'm off to my mother's to listen there).

Here's the link to The Takeaway segment with me: http://www.thetakeaway.org/archives/2008/08/01/4

There's also a place for comments (currently there are two of them, which means at least two people listened, although they could be my editor and my agent): http://www.thetakeaway.org/archives/2008/08/01/4/themix/1

I do like how often the show mentioned Life As We Knew It and the dead and the gone. And they pronounce my name right, even if they did leave the Beth out.

I hope my mother likes it too!

I just listened to it and you sounded passionate about your books and I think anyone listening would be intrigued enough to read them.

And you have a really sweet voice!

I left a message on that site.

Hi Linda Jacobs-

Thank you. My voice is one of those things I'd change if I could (along with my height, my weight, and my overall disposition).

Fortunately, on the radio all one notices is a person's voice!

Wow, I finally get to hear your voice! Finally I know how to pronounce your surname right =P haha.

I love the interview so much! You did a good job!

Hi there,
I just wanted to let you know that I adored Life As We Knew It. I thought it was absolutely fantastic, so I made my coworker read it, and she loved it too. (I'm 20, btw, and my coworker is in her 40s.) We thought it was amazing how realistic it seemed, and the ending was awesome - not cheesy or unrealistic. So thank you for one of the best books I've read in a while!

Hi Beth, it was great to hear you on the show. They should have let you talk more!

I wish they had read both of your books, I think they missed out on alot by not knowing both stories.

I did like the child psychologist who seemed unusually reasonable for someone of his profession.

Anyone listening would be intrigued and will be out buying you books, let's hope!

Hi Caroline and Librarian D.O.A.-

It really was fun doing the radio show, in spite of the early hour. My cat Emily sat on my lap for much of it, which lowered my stress level a bit.

Under ordinary circumstances I would have interrupted the flow of the conversation and demanded that all we talk about was Me Me Me (I'm good at that), but I was in full polite mode.

My favorite part was when I summarized all the news stories and one of the men goes Hmmm, like I made such an incredibly insightful point.

That was Emily's favorite part also!

Hi Chickadee1607-

Thank you for your comment and welcome to the blog.

I'm glad you liked the ending to LAWKI; there are some people who don't. There was no way I was going to end that book with the family dying, so I had to get food to them somehow.

Thanks also for sharing the book with your coworker. One of the real pleasures I've had with LAWKI is finding that people who love it give it to other people to read.

Last night, when I went to bed, I was feeling really really crabby, but then I made myself think of all the good things that had happened just recently. It must have worked, because I fell asleep immediately!

That's why so many people in radio were IN radio -- didn't have to dress up! Now they put radio people on television. Not a good idea. But you were wonderful, and, I'm sure, properly dressed.

It was a very rational interview. And, hey! You already know that Dr. Gaskil will be a newly-found readership-type guy.

Well, I tried to listen to it and there you were just like in real life and in the middle of your comments about Alex, the whole thing just stopped dead and I couldn't get it started again. I have no idea what the problem was.

I'll try again tomorrow. You souned good, btw, but like you were on the telephone, which, I guess, you were.

Hi Anonymous. Hi Marci-

I was very properly dressed, for 6:30 in the morning. Not exactly power suit time. And I'm all in favor of new readership.

I got an e-mail today from someone I did little theater with multiple decades ago, who heard me on the radio. That was a very pleasant surprise.

Thank you, Marci, for letting me know the problem you had listening had to do with your internet connection and not with the show's website. I like the idea of being there until the world ends or the show is cancelled, whichever comes first!
