One Book, One Boone. One Big Ego Boost

William R. Boone High School in Orlando, Florida selected Life As We Knew It for their One Book, One Boone 2009 summer reading choice, and LAWKI is being woven into various classes this year.

As if this weren't enough to make me happy, the teachers were also asked to have pictures taken of them reading LAWKI this summer, and I was given the honor (well, I think I demanded the honor) of judging the photographs.

I was sent a CD with scores of photographs. Oddly enough, I loved them all. I took the CD to Target and printed up about a dozen of them and put them in frames, so I can look at them whenever I feel like it (which seems to be all the time).

I asked for permission to put some of the pictures on my blog. So with many thanks to the staff at Boone, here are some fabulous teachers reading LAWKI!

Aha, I love the golf one! In fact, I love them all. That's such an honor. I'm so excited for you. I wish I could have attended that school!

Hello sarah-

I love all the pictures and I really appreciate the time and energy the teachers at Boone spent on this.

LAWKI got to go to a lot of interesting places this summer, which is more than I can say about myself!

Makes me want to move to Orlando.

The photographs are wonderful. Encore! (My favorite is the reading rider with the absolutely beautiful horse).

Hi jmaster1324 and W. Slezak-

I'd like to know how the four armed photograph works also. I admit it would be handy to have four arms sometimes.

All the wonderful photographs did leave me with a very favorable impression of Orlando!

What an honor. How interesting for you to have written a book that has become such a phenomenon. I would enjoy being part of discussions at that school.

Hi Wendy-

It is an honor and it's been absolutely wonderful seeing all the special things that have happened to LAWKI and me over the past few years.

Life as I know it has really been extraordinary!

Love the pictures, although I have to admit I'd have preffered the dead and the gone.

One a completely unrelated note, I see five arms.

Hi Chris-

I'm relieved to report I only see four arms.

And I'm glad you prefer The Dead And The Gone. I love both those books equally (actually I love all 75 of my books equally, just like my mother loves both her children equally, although my mother probably finds it easier to name both her children than I do to name all 75 books!).

I just graduated from Boone last spring. I'm so jealous that they get to read this book for school! :)

Hello Pam M.-

Maybe it was your influence that got Boone to pick LAWKI.

And if it was, could I send you to every school in the country? I love knowing people are reading my books, and I especially love photographic evidence!

Great pictures!
The four arm pic really stands out from the bunch. It does a great job conveying the busy life of a mother.

Hi Anonymous-

I love all the pictures I was sent, but the four armed woman is definitely one of my favorites!
