I'm still uncertain how many ARCS I'm going to get and when I'm going to get them, but I thought it might be helpful if I had a sense of how many of you might want one.
So I put up a poll last night with several options (including the traditional Go Away Leave Me Alone choice, albeit more tactfully worded), and this morning I scurried to see the results and no one had voted.
Results so far were zero.
A woman's feelings could get hurt.
But then I figured out if no one knew about the poll, no one would respond. So consider yourself informed.
Oh, and I'm not asking yet for emails or anything like that. I won't until I have the ARCs in hand. This poll is just to give me a sense of whether I'm going to need to save some for you or if I can build a playroom for Scooter with them.
ETA: Sorry for the confusion. The other poll is the same poll basically on the thirdmoonbook blog. Some people read one blog, some people read the other.

Somehow I missed the first poll -- my blog reading has been spotty this fall because my job has overwhelmed all aspects of my life. I am eager to read the third book and find out what happens.
My book club meeting to discuss LAWKI is Tuesday -- I can't wait -- I have your stickers to give out to my teachers and I think they'll love the surprise. They are clamoring for the sequel and my only library copy was checked out by a student who has left our school -- why is it always the most sought-after books that disappear?
The word verification is obarfa -- just found that amusing.
I missed the first poll and apparently didn't know emailing you about them was acceptable practice...
All I know is that I've read the first two and loved them (and reviewed them...and interviewed you about them :P), and would love to read this next one...and review it...and interview you about it...
So yeah :P
Hello to Paige Y. and to S.M.D.-
Obarfa? What a perfectly delightful non-word.
Paige Y.- Have fun on Tuesday and let me know how the book club goes. While you're at it, say hi to everyone for me.
And S.M.D. (and everyone else who was confused)- Sorry for the confusion. I put the same poll up (or just about the same poll) over at the thirdmoonbook blog, and that was what I was referring to.
I knew what I meant, but apparently no one else did!
a copy!!!! :) Can't wait to read this one!
Yeah, I didn't see the poll until your post showed up on my blogger dashbord. I voted now though!
Of course I'd love an ARC, but only if you're willing to post to Australia. If you're not, that's fine - Scooter can have my copy. Though I think he'd be more interested in an empty box ;-) Then again, my cat isn't too thrilled with my choice of books ;-)
Happy Columbus Day Corey B. and Rebecca Herman and Tez Miller-
Well, it's looking like Scooter won't get a playroom out of the ARCs, so it's a good thing I didn't promise him anything (other than constant food and the occasional cleaning of the litter).
I should (I think) get the ARCs within the next couple of weeks, and when I do, I'll make the official announcement about how they'll be distributed.
My unofficial guess is I'll do as I did for d&g, which is I'll ask people to email if they want one, and then I'll take the email addresses and put them in my Bolivian hat and pull out the names from there.
And if your email address gets pulled out, it won't matter where you live. I'm going to have to take everything to the post office anyway, and if the postage is a little higher, so be it.
My word verification is nonomp, which certainly looks like it should mean something!
Hi Susan,
I just wanted to check to see if I need to send you an official email responce letting you know that I do *really* want an arc of The World We Live In. I think I mentioned in the other blog post that October is my birthday month right? This is a big year for me too---I turn 30! A fresh arc of WWLI sure would cushion the blow of that milestone! ;)
Dawn
Oh, how I would love an ARC of your third book! So glad you posted about it, cause I might not have had a chance to drop by and vote otherwise!
I am so excited to read this book!!!!! Thank goodness you posted an entry because I wouldn't have known about the poll otherwise! Thanks! -Maddy Myers
I missed the other poll - been too swamped on school visits, but I'd love an ARC if there are enough - can't wait to read it!!
My word verification is recon, which is a good word for a retired military family. ; )
Happy Columbus Day!
I would love an ARC, which I would read and share with my Baltimore librarian colleagues.
Happy Day After Columbus Day to Dawn and Melissa@1br and Maddy Myers and Elaine Marie Alphin and Paula-
Now that it's now longer a National Holiday/Three Day Weekend, I'm hoping to find out more about the ARCs. Like when I'll be getting them and just how many.
I've been making lists of who I want to give copies to, and it's been very entertaining to cross off names of beloved family members and friends. Although now that I think about it, I'd probably better put my mother back on the list.
Dawn, 30 is the best age, and the 30s is the best decade. So relax and enjoy!
Hi Sue
I would love an ARC of LAWKI!!
Maria Touet
Thanks Susan! I am surprisingly pumped about turning 30! :)
Dawn
hi i love your books!! they are great!! my favorite boook is the " life as we knew it" and im starting to read " dead and gone" and i cant wait to read "the world we live in"!!!!! i also read "a year with out michael" and it was great too.
Hi Sue,
I don't know if I am on your ARC list or if I am on the cutting room floor, but I had to write. My word verification is erain. Although I am not a complete Luddite, I choose to believe that this will never happen.
Your buzz buddy, Janet
Hello to Maria Touet and Dawn and seyoung777 and beloved buzz buddy Janet-
First of all, thank you Maria Touet. I went to the library a couple of days ago, and took out the issue of VOYA that mentions LAWKI and d7g and made photocopies for my files. I wouldn't have known to do that except for your thoughtfulness.
Happy upcoming birthday Dawn (unless you've already had it, in which case, happy belated birthday).
Thank you seyoung777. I hope you like d&g, and will like TW when you have a chance to read it.
And Janet, you're still on the list. It has just better not erain when we're going to Lake Placid!
Am I the only one who doesn't know what ARC stands for?
Advance Readers Copy! Tada, I just figured it out.
missed the first poll as well
Hi ML and Gabby and Anonymous-
Yes, an ARC is an advanced reading copy- an early paperback version of a book (in this case This World We Live In). The ARCs are due out any day now; TW won't come out until April 1.
And don't worry about missing an earlier poll. There wasn't one. It's just there's a poll here and a nearly identical one over at the thirdmoonbook blog.
I hope that explains everything!
"Although now that I think about it, I'd probably better put my mother back on the list." Too funny. I'd love to put my name in the hat. Can't wait!
Hi Judith-
The ARCS haven't arrived, and I'll be leaving for Illinois in an hour or so.
I guess (I think) they'll come sometime next week. When they do, I'll make the official announcement.
In the meantime, I have to admit, I'd love to have one myself!
