The ARCs Are (Gonna Be) In The Mail!

I started Tuesday morning off with a well placed whine/kvetch email, and was told that the carton of ARCs for This World We Live In will be sent off today.

Today is not as good as last week or two weeks ago or October, but hey, it's better than next year.

Meantime, Scooter has decided to use the Whole Language approach for learning how to read. He's selected the book of interest to him, probably because it has lots of pictures of his distant relatives.

I'll let you know when he starts reading it or when the ARCs arrive, whichever comes first!

Will he read it by rubbing up his face up and down the spine? That's how my cat goes on the computer, rubbing her face along the edge of the screen.

Hi Nora-

Should Scooter master this reading business, I'm sure he'll thrust his body and soul [-=

That last bit of business Scooter typed himself. I'm not sure what it means, but I'm sure it's very profound in cat language!

Hi Sue:

Shayna's looking for a historical fiction novel to read for school and wanted me to find out if you'd written any. I looked on your website and, besides the Moon books and The Year Without Michael, there's no listing of your other works. Did I miss it? Must I go to Amazon?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Glen

(My word today is 'pluvr'; sounds like something the Swedish Chef would use.)

Hello non-anonymous Glen-

I've done some historical fiction, but it's for kids younger than Shayna.

She'll do better with some other writer.

Thanks for thinking of me as a possibility though!

The million dollar question: How many ARC's are they sending???? Keep reading Scooter!

Good evening Bri-

That's a good question. Heaven knows I've whined so much, they should send me oodles and oodles just to get me to shut up.

Of course, that's always been my rationale for whining and it's almost never worked!

Hooray for ARCs! Here's hoping they get here soon.

And I give Scooter 2 thumbs up on his reading choice. My father is from Tanzania, so growing up all my bedtime stories took place there. Hope he enjoys his book :)

I like that picture of Scooter; he looks so determined to read!

I'm happy to report that my students are now fighting over the longer entries instead of the shorter ones in LAWKI! They're really getting into it!

Hello to Anande and Linda Jacobs and Rebecca Herman and melissa@1br-

My word verification is ahxhawa. Doesn't that sound like an Indian princess?

When I was a kid, I loved the Maida books and one of them had a character from what was then Tanzania. I decided when I grew up, I'd take a vacation there.

Years passed, and I realized I had grown up. So I lived up to my childhood obligations and did vacation there.

My brother gave me the book because of my trip.

Thank you, Linda Jacobs, for using LAWKI with your students. Be sure to say hi to them for me.

And thanks to everybody for your interest in the ARCs!
