As you can see, Scooter and I are hard at work in preparation for the holidays, but that didn't keep Google from letting me know about a couple of wonderful things.First of all, the dead and the gone has been nominated for its first statewide young reader award. I'm delighted to report that it's my state, New York, that has put it on its teen 3 Apples Book Award list. I'm always thrilled to be nominated, and I'm even more thrilled when I win, but with this one, the nomination will have to be thrill enough. I'm just glad I'm not going against The Cat In The Hat.
Secondly, the Book Butterfly blog has a contest with two ARCs of This World We Live In as the prizes. There's a nice long interview with me there (I do like talking about myself) as well.
Scooter's already gotten his Chanukah present, his very first catnip toy. My Chanukah presents are my career, Scooter, and all of you.
We're both very happy and extremely grateful!

Out of interest, in there a difference between writing Hanukkah and writing Chanukah? Other than the obvious, I mean. Is there any difference in meaning or are they the same thing?

My computer has stopped working again so I'm on my notebook thing, which isn't nearly as easy to work with (growl grump).
Scooter was very interested in the Chanukah candles last night, so I had to pick him up twice and carry him away from the kitchen counter. I have six long nights head of me.
There are lots of different ways to spell Chnanukah. I spell it the way I do because that was how I wss taught. It's a gutteral "h" and the "ch" is more reflective of that (or not).
No matter how it's spelled, it's eight nights of temptation for a kitten!

I think I'll reread LAWKI and tdatg before I dive in head first into TWWLI. That's the plan but the suspense may be too much for me to handle.

I agree with Maria T. I got arc and there have been at lest 20 times were I almost started to read it but insted read the frist two as a refreser. I want to start it soooo bad maybe this week-end:)

Hi to Maria and Crystal-
I intended to reread LAWKI and d&g before reading TW, but when the ARC finally arrived, I was so relieved and so impatient, I read it right away.
I've been thinking a lot about LAWKI recently. Maybe I'll reread it and d&g when I get my d&g paperback (which should be in a month or so).
Meanwhile my computer did die, and Ill be getting my new one tomorrow. And Scooter and I have both survived two more nights of Chanukah candles!

It certainly is, Susan! And too hot, with bushfires already happening. And all my US and UK friends are complaining about the snow. We're never happy!
