Amazon Just Put Up The Cover For The Shade Of The Moon

It's the first I've seen it.

I'm not quite sure what that big building is supposed to be, but it's got fire and I like it!

It looks kind of like a prison -- maybe getting across the message that the "safe town" is, in some ways, more like a "prison town".

I just finished your third book and I then panicked, I thought this week's was only a trilogy. It was a good thing too, because I went on Amazon to write the review and happened to mention this book.(couldn't hurt you).Oh and please tell me you will have this book available for my Kindle.

Hello Anonymous Santa Fe and Anonymous (and thank you Anonymous for plugging the book!)-

Maybe the building is supposed to represent a prison. There's a jail in the book, but I never imagined it quite so grand.

And I would assume The Shade Of The Moon will be available on ebooks, most likely on Sept. 3. I think that was how it worked with This World We Live In and Blood Wounds.

Beautiful cover! It really keeps the theme of isolation that the other covers had. :)

Hi Emily-

I've been very fortunate with the covers for all the moon books.

They're really beautiful works of art (something that's rarely said about the books themselves!).

I've said the whole time the books are works of art Susan ... rabble rabble

Awesome cover. It looks like that meteorite must have knocked the moon upside down, though.

I like it but it looks very similar to This World We Live In! Maybe its supposed to be Sexton University? Have you noticed that for each book, the sky on the cover continues to get darker?
btw- I found this- I think you might like it: http://www.modcloth.com/shop/lighting/dark-side-of-the-room-lamp

Happy New Year's Eve to Crystal M Billings and Sandra Sasal and myst7 and thank you for your comments-

I like the cover too except for that big unexplained building.

It shouldn't be Sexton University because the fires don't happen in Sexton.

Oh well. I guess authors aren't supposed to know everything!

Will "the shade of the moon" be available with a blueish cover that the previous 3 books were in as that is what i currently have all 3 books in and it is very nice to see them all with matching covers.

And it would be great to have all four books in matching covers.

Hello Dan-

The blue covers are from the UK versions of the books. The American covers are all different colors (but all with the same big moon).

I don't know yet if the UK publisher is going to buy The Shade Of The Moon. If it doesn't, there won't be a blue cover version, to match the others.

Dan said...

Thank you for the reply Susan.

Well i for one hope the UK publisher will buy The Shade Of The Moon. If you do hear something from the UK Publisher can you please announce it on here, on your blog please.

Also who is the UK Publisher??

Susan Beth Pfeffer said...

Hi Dan-

If it happens, I certainly will announce it. I announce everything here, any chance I get.

The UK publisher is the UK branch of Scholastic. The person who brought them my books has since left the company, so I don't have any real connections there.

But they're the ones who named the books The Last Survivors, so they've definitely had an effect on me!

Thank you aimee. And say hi to your librarian friend for me!

It looks like a college to me ...maybe Sexton University?

Susan Beth Pfeffer said...

Hello very nice meangirl1982-

I think I've figured out what the building is. It just doesn't look the way I thought it would.

Then again, since I don't write description, there's no one to blame but myself, and I never blame myself!

whose standpoint is the book going to be written in and what person. A journal, third person, first person, or something completely different?

The large building is Old Main, and it's on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville, AR.
