The Last Survivors Have Survived

I got all three of the Marion Lloyd Books/ UK Scholastic versions of Life As We Knew It, The Dead And The Gone, and This World We Live In in the mail today.
They look very different (on the outsides at least) from their American cousins.
When the German version arrives, I'll have a family reunion.
Don't worry. I'll be sure to bring my camera!

They do look amazingly different, but the covers definitely have kid appeal. I'm sure your multi-national family will look great all together.

Congratulations!

Thank you Elaine Marie Alphin-

I look forward to the big reunion myself.

I'm sure the books will have a lot to tell each other!

I have to admit, I love the US version just so much more. The UK one looks in the vein of Planet of the Apes.

Then again, I always love the value of kitsch, and the UK one IS kid-friendly as Elaine said.

Yay you for all of your editions!! I hope your new WIP is going well--I knew you were at odds with it a bit ago.

I'm with you Ms. Pfeffer on this one. The US ones do make me want to rad the book again that much more. But I do like the image of the statue of liberty under water. Almost Day after Tomorrow-esque. Have a good reunion books!

Good Job

I still fail to see how the UK covers have anything to do with the actual books, haha.

Still, they look good and will definitely attract some younger readers.

(PS) Finally managed to snag myself a copy of TWWLI!

Hi Susan, Jon, Tim and Chris-

You know, when I refer to Tim as Tim rather than his legal name of Fear Death By Water, those are all very easy names to spell and type.

Kind of like a blog comment response vacation for me.

Anyway, thank you Susan, Jon, Tim and Chris for your comments. I love all the different covers for the books.

I'm also looking forward to getting the German version. Its cover is very very dark and quite different from the others.

Hi Susan
Not sure about those UK editions. The covers on the first and third books don't match the stories. I love the ones with the moon from Harcourt.

Hi Maria T-

I love each and every cover of the books, and I especially love how different the covers are.

I'm eagerly awaiting the German cover to add a touch of darkness to the collection!

I really love your books, I'm such a huge fan!!! I've read your series of Life As We Knew It 5 times! I cant get enough, I just finished This World We Live In again. The first time I got it I read it in 7 hours. I really do love how you tied Miranda and Alex together. I only read your books most of the time, you're my inspiration toward writing. I love writing and soon start my own devastation series because your books are amazing. I want to write my own novel, I know it will take a long time, but I think I can do it. I have dreams of your books and other disasters, so I feel like I need to write. Thank you for writing those wonderful books, it really has made a difference in my life.
As for the covers, to me they all match. Life As We Knew It as you know was snowy and clear until volcanic ash. I thought in the beginning of the book Miranda lived in a neighborhood, until the 3rd book. For The Dead and The Gone, it was in New York and I just love the cover to TDATG because NYC looked like a ghost town, it really related to the book. For TWWLI's cover the weather was clearing up a little, and Matt, Jon, Alex, Charlie and Hal chopped a lot of the woods away. The sun-room was the only thing lit on the cover, but one thing they missed was that the sun-room was a part of the deck and I always pictured it sticking out of the house. But that's okay I still think the book looks GREAT! I think the UK versions are very different, but I think they match the story also.

I think it would be really nice if this could be turned into a movie series too, but they might ruin it. The movie would be different though :/
I couldn't read a lot before, your book LAWKI was what inspired me to read again. I just keep reading your books over and over, and toss different ones in but its still mostly that series! I hope that makes you smile :)

I really do like those covers though, they look great!!

Would it be possible to send in one of my copies of Life As We Knew It, for you to sign? It would be great if you could.

Hi Meaghan W. and thank you for your comments-

I love hearing how you've read my books more than once. When I love a book I'll reread it many times. It's like visiting an old friend to read it again.

If you'd like a signed bookplate to put in your book, just email me using the link on the top right corner of the blog. Tell me your name and address and off the bookplates will go!

Meaghan Wright said...

Hi again, do I get a notice if I do get bookplates?

Susan Beth Pfeffer said...

Hello again Meaghan W-

I just checked, and I've already addressed your envelope.

You should get your bookplates by the end of the week!

Susan,

I loved all your books and agree that I am very found of the covers from the US version. Just showing the moon helps the reader imagine what it looks like through Miranda's and Alex's eyes.

Thank you so much they are my favorite books!!

I just found your book and finished the whole series in 2 days. I love it! the characters and the plot. I love how you've managed to bring together a group of people, and be civilized and bond.
I hate the endings the most, BUT! i just felt that's how the stories should end. It is very truthful, so real that it breaks my heart. Thank you so much for sharing this stories to us... -Kelvin from the Philippines :)
