Hip Hip Hooray! It's The 18th Of May!

May 18th is the day the meteor meets the moon in Life As We Knew It and the dead and the gone. As far as I'm concerned, that makes it just about a national holiday.

I celebrated by finally buying a flashlight.

The State Of Tennessee celebrated by naming Life As We Knew It their winner of the Volunteer State Book Award (grades 7-12)

Scooter celebrated... well, suffice it to say, he celebrated.

Or, as Miranda puts it, in This World We Live In:

There is nothing more beautiful than half a roll of toilet paper.

I hope the end of the world is as much fun for you as it has been for me!

It's also my birthday (which I was little alarmed by when I read Life as We Knew It)! I'm celebrating with red velvet cake.

Happy birthday Kats!

I hope it's a wonderful day (and save me a piece of cake)!!!

It's also the 30th anniversary of the eruption of Mount St. Helens, which wasn't devestating globally like the moon crash, but it made quite a mess locally! Any chance you chose the date because of MSH?

Happy May 19 Lisa-Marie Jordan-

I've been trying to remember if there was any particular reason for picking May 18, and my guess is there wasn't. I certainly didn't make the Mount St. Helens connection.

Some of the dates in LAWKI I chose because they were birthdays of people I know. Other dates just fell into place (the Fourth of July falls on July 4).

But why I picked May 18 remains a mystery to me!

It's also my birthday too. When I was giving LAWKI the 5 page-grab-my-interest reading test, I felt May 18th was a cosmic sign ;-) to continue reading.

Yay end of the world! :-). Love the books. Yeah, this should be a national holiday. That would be so cool having a national end of the world day. Scooter is so adorable. Look at all of that toilet paper everywhere! That's so cute!

Hi Anonymous-

Scooter is adorable. He gets away with a lot because of his inherent cuteness.

And I'm in favor of as many national holidays as possible. Just as long as the mail gets delivered!
