Should There Be A Fourth Moon Book?

Personally, I have no idea.

So I've set up a poll to learn what you think. It's pretty simple- you either vote Yes or No.

Then again, if not many people vote, that's kind of a No in and of itself.

Either way, I'll let my editor know how the vote goes. And thank you for your thoughts and opinions.

Yes. There's so much you wonder about when you finish the third that a fourth is a must!! Will they find the safe town? Will conditions ever get better? Will there be more babies? These books are based on an excellent & unique plot & the characters deserve their ending.

I would love to see what happens next. But at the same time, I totally understand if you want to leave it where you left it.

I just finished "Life as we knew it" and it was amazing. it left me hooked and im staring the next one. I vote yes because this is a great series.

Yes!!! I love the books! I about died waiting for my friend to read the dead and the gone! I finally got it so im on it!

Anonymous said...

yess! i love the books! can't wait to read this world we live in!

Mr. Cavin said...

Hi! I voted yes, but it's a lot more complicated than that.

I don't really want to see you retire, but I don't want you stuck in a rut, either. I do think the current ending is fine for the series. But honestly, I would have said the same thing after each of these books, and I was clearly wrong about that.

But I'm just as willing to get excited by this new chapter sevenless gothic horror novel--or whatever new thing you come up with--as I am about a forth moon book. So really you can interpret my vote for "yes" any way you want to.

Yes yes yes!!!

Yes. I'd like to see what happens next.

Yes yes yes! I have told everyone I know about these books. I read all three back in Nov or Dec and still can't stop thinking about them! Thank u!

Linda Jacobs said...

Please, please, please!

They feel like family to me and I want to know what happens when Alex finds out what Miranda did. I want to see how Jon reacts when he finds out. (In fact, if Miranda is too old to be the main character for a YA novel, maybe it could be from Jonny's POV!) I want to find out how the world goes on! And my kids at school do, too!

Thank you very much!

Anonymous said...

Yes, yes, yes! I read your series twice, and then passed them on to my sister and daughter (who also loved them). PLEASE continue the series...at least one more book!

Kristin said...

I think that there should be like 6 books, so deffentily a 4th.

qwertyuiop said...

YES! there most definatly should be. maybe even with different characters because, while i do love miranda and her family and friends, the rest of the US is a blank for me (except for rhode island, they all drowned). so yeah!

Shirley Shimer said...

Yes please!

Susan S said...

I'm voting yes again…can I do that? haha…& I agree that you could take this past 4 to 5 & 6! :)

As I said before, no trilogy is complete without a fourth book.

(So my answer is 'yes.')

Kellee said...

Simple: YES!

Susan said...

Yes, yes, and yes! I know of two other fans who would as well. My sister was downright angry when I told her it was the end of the trilogy.

Dawn M. said...

Yes, please! I would love to find out what's happening in the rest of the world. Does it get better? How does the world adapt? Does Miranda & her family find the safe town?

As qwertyuiop mentioned, writing it from the POV of new characters would be good - with maybe a mention of the family - just so long as we found out more. :0)

Marci said...

It's the influence of the super moon. We get snow on the first day of spring, and we start thinking about what other horrible catastophes will befall our favorite characters.

Earthquakes, tsunamis, radiation laden snow, poisoned seas?

Of course if you really want to write about disaster, have Miranda and Alex end up in the theater where Spiderman is being "produced."

Ava said...

There should definitely be a fourth book, I feel like the ending of the 3rd book doesn't suffice as the end. However, I personally like Alex's POV more then Miranda's. So to put icing on the cake (or the cover on the book), Write it in Alex's POV!!

Anonymous said...

I've always been for a fourth book -- even if it's set decades later with the unearthing of Miranda's diaries, contrasted, of course with what the historians know about what happened to the family (I've always thought that Jon eventually goes into the Army so that Laura, Miranda, and especially Gabriel will get special benefits, and becomes a famous general or something). I'd also want to know more about the Laura-Miranda dynamic; I've always thought there was more to that than Miranda just being a spoiled brat. But that's just me.

Ms. Pfeffer,
I've enjoyed all 3 of your novels in this series and would adore a fourth. Is the whole world like there little town? What's out there? Thanks for the other 3 books and I live in hope for a 4th.

I loved the way you ended the trilogy. It was very satisfying for me. But the overall story has much more to tell. I'd love to meet new characters, a whole new story line based off the same scenario. Perhaps at the end, the new characters either meet the originals - or, more subtly, they pass the original characters in transit. It would give us hints about what happened to the originals...but maintains your original vision.

Either way, more more more...please. :-)

I vote yes!! I loved getting a different prespective with characters and location in the second book. I think time passing, like 10 years, would be interesting. I also think it would give time for things to improve. I want to believe they would improve AND A&M would be together.

Thanks for three great books! My sister and mom raced through them after I did.

Anonymous said...

PLEAE MAE A 4TH BOOK, THAT WOULD BE AMAZING!AND MAKE MORE STUFF HAPPEN, YOUR REALLY GOOD AT MAKING MIRANDA FEEL LIKE FAMILY

Lisa-Marie Jordan said...

I voted yes because I love the Moon books so much, and would love to read more about the characters and world you creaated. However, if a 4th book simply doesn't come to you, please don't force it. The series really is perfect the way it is, but if those characters start talking to you again, go for it!

Abigail said...

YES!

Ita said...

well i just stared reading this world we live in and i really love the part whe miranda and alex fall in love and i wants to know whats going to happen next

Mo said...

I agree that you ended the trilogy in a way that left me satisfied, but that being said, I still wonder about the aftermath of Miranda's actions. I agree with other commenters that I wouldn't turn my nose up at a fourth book, especially from another point of view in another part of the country. So I guess my answer is YES to a fourth book.
And I must say that these books kept me reading almost constantly. I did have to stop to make dinner for the family :) I have the books in my library collection and always recommend them to my students. They don't stay on the shelf for very long! Thanks for such well-written, heart-rending and compelling novels!

Ms. Susan,

There's no need for a poll. I think we all (readers) would love to see the 4th book.

Keep writing!

YES!!! These books may be directed towards younger readers, but I'm telling you, I'm 51 and am thoroughly hooked on the moon series. They should be marketed for a broader audience (publishers take note!) I've read all three and can not wait for the next!

donna said...

Yes. Perhaps NASA could find a way to push the moon back, at least to help stop the tidal problems (at least that is what I think would happen). Although life would not be the same. It might be fun to have it set a decade or so later, when society has begun to reshape.

Kate Karyus Quinn said...

Yes, please! Although, I thought the end to the third book (like all the others) was totally satisfying, I still want - no need - to read more. All the characters are so very real that I want to know what happens to them next.

Cecilia said...

Please!!!!! I honestly am not a reader but yet I have found a love for reading this series. I have read all 3 books atleast 5 times and trust me, the books are still good. I truly wish the ending would've given a little more as to what came next, even though I loved how you ended Miranda's diary. For the unknowing, I know I would definitely read your fourth over and over again. I'm not joking when I say I'm obsessed :-)

Moon Lover said...

Yes, yes, yes, yes!!!!!! How many posts that say yes were you hoping for? I just now found this site because I was curious as to if anyone knew if there was going to be a fourth. Just my luck I found this pretty recent post. Please do!!!! Like what I read from one of your other posts that you need a life, I need a life to and I can't get out of this state until I know what happens to them!!!! Please do.

Anonymous said...

YES!!! Please make a fourth book! I'd love to read about Miranda & Alex's relationship throughout all that will happen next! It's sort of like the love and relationship stuff in Twilight! Although, I have to say that I have a new favorite book series! :) "Life As We Knew It" cries for a sequel!!

On your "get a life" comment...I have a life and it's not that great so just keep the one you have until God gives you another one.
Should there be a 4th moon book? Why not?

Anonymous said...

Mr. Calvin said it for me. I second his comment, every bit of it.

Maybe the 4th book will not be the last, but whenever the last book does appear, it could perhaps take Paul Scott’s Staying On as a model for how to relate to the series. Staying On was the fifth book in a sequence, but you wouldn’t call it the 5th book of the quintet, rather it related to the quartet of the first 4 books as a coda or epilogue (while at the same time being a fully contained and satisfying novel by itself). It takes place decades later than the quartet, and the main characters in it had appeared just once as bit characters in the quartet. What’s more, we find out what happened to the main characters in the quartet by a single mention in passing, but for readers of the quartet who were left wondering, it is very satisfying.

Yes! The third one didn't feel like an ending. I felt like we were three books from finding out if life would be like this from now, get worse, or something better would be found.

It would be totally unforgivable of you to not write another Moon book now that we are excited at the thought of another one. Please,Please,Please write another. Arik said...

I think you should definitely make a fourth book even if it's 15 years later and Gabriel's POV. It doesn't matter who's POV but there NEEDS to be a fourth. All the books ended great but the third book ended on a cliff hanger(they leave the house but where did they go!)So I think YES.

I loved these books. My grandmother lives a few states away, and I call her every week. I must have raved about these enough on the phone while I reading them.. she went and ordered her own. She loved them as well. My boss is even reading them, and he isn't much of a reader at all.

I'm definitely all for you continuing with the series. There are so many possibilities. I would be happy even if it didn't follow the same characters.. just new one from a different part of the world..

what I loved most about these books is how raw they were.. They felt so real, because they could be. It made me think. Which isn't such a good thing. my husband laughs at me when we go grocery shopping now because I'm always slipping some extra can goods into our cart. lol

If you do decide to write more... I"ll be one of the first to preorder it when it's available! :)

I know I am really late for this, but I just found this blog post. I would REALLY enjoy a fourth book because I LOVED the other ones and were OBSESSED with them for a while. I think that maybe the next book could be in Alex's POV, or Johnny's, maybe even Matt or Syl's. I thought it would be cool if it were from Gabriel's POV years later, or if Alex and Miranda got married and had a kid, and he/she found their diaries and decided to write her own. I don't care whose POV it is, I just know that a fourth book would be AMAZING!!

Thanks for creating such a great series of young adult books!!

I have used this book in my middle school resource room for the last few years. For many of my students this was the book that turned them into readers!!! They absolutely love reading the books and for the last 2 years I have heard: "When is she going to write the next book" a million times.
I think that should speak for itself. You have turned many reluctant readers into readers with your books and it would be really great for these kids to see the series come to a close.

So my vote and that of the 70+ students that have read this is for you to please write another book!!
