If You'd Like A Chance At A This World We Live In ARC

There's been a delay in the printing of the ARCs for This World We Live In, and most likely I won't be getting my copies until next week.

My original plan had been to suggest people email me after the copies had arrived, but I've gotten impatient, so I'm switching the order. I think I'll have a couple of dozen copies to distribute, maybe a few more, and I'll send them out just about as soon as I get them. If I get more, right away or later on, I'll keep on sending.

Here's the deal. Most likely more than two dozen people are going to ask for an ARC. If there are more requests than ARCs, I'll use a lottery, as I have in the past for ARCs of The Dead And The Gone (I didn't know any of you when I got my ARCs for Life As We Knew It).

If you want to be in the drawing, then email me, either using the email address at this blog or at the other (but not both). Leaving a comment won't do it, because what I do is copy everyone's email address and put them in the Bolivian hat (currently residing on the bathroom wall) and pull out names.

If yours is one I pull out, I'll email you back and ask for your name and address. So you don't have to include them in your Bolivian hat email.

Some of you have already emailed your request. I've kept all those emails in a special folder, so you don't have to email me again.

I think when I get an email request I'll email back saying "Thank you," just so you'll know your email arrived.

Oh, I pay for the envelopes and postage and all that. So don't worry about it.

If you have any questions, feel free to comment. But again, if you want a chance at an ARC, a comment won't do it. I'd tell you what would, but I've used the word email so many times in this blog entry, I'm tired of typing it!

Hello to Maddy Myers and C.K.-

People are definitely emailing their requests, but so far the numbers haven't been so overwhelming that I've felt, oh I don't know, overwhelmed.

Of course when the time comes to write each email address on a little piece of paper so I can put them all in the Bolivian hat, overwhelmed may become my new middle name!

PS- My word verification is "blockle." I guess that's a combinaton of block and tackle, neither one of which the Jets or the Giants did enough of yesterday!

I've already emailed. Getting excited! I told my kids all about the new book and they are interested in reading it sometime. We're almost done d&g and even my reluctant students are hooked!

I emailed! I really hope I get one... fingers crossed.

How many ARCs did you get for d&g (so I have an approx. number in my head for how many ARCs you will receive this time around)?

Good Monday evening to Dawn and Linda Jacobs and Maddy Myers and the mysterious M.

I don't remember the exact number of ARCs I got for d&g. What I do remember is sending out a batch of them to blog readers and then going to NCTE and gathering up the ones no one wanted and sending them out to blog readers and then having Harcourt scrounge around for more which they sent me and I sent out to blog readers and then (finally) getting copies of the ARC back from my friends and family so I could send them out to blog readers.

This go round, I think Harcourt will send me more from the getgo, but I can't be sure about the NCTE etc. leftovers.

What I do know is Harcourt approves of my distributing ARCs to my blog readers, which is why I'm hopeful I'll be getting a goodly amount and cautiously optimistic they'll send me more as time progresses.

Harcourt will also be distributing ARCs on their own, at conferences and to library groups and as giveaways.

I just wish they'd give one away to me ASAP!

I sent my email, but I was wondering if there are ruls that go with ARCs like if they have to be sent back and if they be spken of stuff like that.

Hi Anonymous-

Those are good questions.

If you get an ARC it's yours to keep. The only rules about it are you can't sell it and you can't turn it into a library book.

As far as speaking about it, that's what the publishing house hopes you'll do. Of course they'd prefer it if you said good things about it, but that's the risk they take in letting people read a book before it's actually published.

I'm going to set up a comments section on the thirdmoonbook blog for people to write whatever they want. That way they can discuss what they've read and the people who don't want to read their comments here won't have to.

Those are the rules. Now I have to type in the word verification "lardifyi" so you can read them!

I've sent an email :]. I hope I get a chance to win. I don't want to sound stupid, but if we're chosen from the drawing, we'll get the book. O_O.

Hi Sammy Belliard-

If I pull your name out of the hat, I'll send you an advanced reading copy (ARC) of This World We Live In.

Well, first I'll email you and ask your address, since otherwise I won't know where to mail the ARC!

Thank you so much, for taking the time to actually respond to my comment. Your books are an inspiration to me as a newbie novelist. Keep rocking on :].
