NCTE

I got an e-mail yesterday asking if I was going to be at NCTE next weekend in New York City.

The answer is yes. I'll be autographing copies of Life As We Knew It and ARCs of the dead & the gone Sunday morning, Nov. 18, between 9-10 AM at the Harcourt booth, #336. I'll also be at the ALAN Reception Sunday evening.

Please take this as a personal invitation to stop by and say hello.

NCTE= National Council of Teachers of English

I deleted my first comment because Mational Council of Teachers of English is kind of an embarrassing typo!

Oh- and ALAN stands for Assembly on Literature for Adolescents of the NCTE.

Believe me, I didn't know that either, but fortunately, the invitation to the reception tells all.

Years ago, I did a program for the ALAN Review, and I reviewed my brother Alan. This remains one of my all time favorite speeches, although my recollection is I thought it was a lot funnier than the audience did.

Did Alan think it was funny? Was it a good review?

Alan wasn't there.

I believe I said, "Good field, can't hit," and "Can't act. Can't sing. Balding. Can dance a little."

Actually there's some truth to those reviews!
