Scooter In The Kitchen

I promise I'm not going to post endless look at Scooter photos and videos. But this one, which I took about half an hour ago, shows what a little meower he is.

The ticking sound in the background is the toaster oven.

Scooter is now climbing on my back and purring. He's really a sweetheart, but a very noisy one!

Book Four - Countertop Catastrophe – Installment 1

My situation was becoming desperate. Although, the events that had caused the moon to shift out of its orbit had only slightly affected me, I now found myself in the most dire of predicaments; trapped on a countertop, the likes of which I had never seen before. Knives, plants, and other bric-a-brack haunted me at every turn. As I looked for a way out, I noticed a silver colored basin ahead of me, but was this paradise or pitfall? My lack of experience left me wondering, but my curiosity got the better of me as it always did. Cautiously, I padded into that area, purring in anticipation as to what wonders I might behold in that shiny… and then I slipped, and was in it!

Hi Anonymous Great Author-

I can laugh at your comment (and I did, repeatedly), because Scooter is quietly sitting on my lap.

I went out for the first time since his arrival (had to buy him some cat food, after all), and he was napping peacefully when I got back.

So maybe the exciting trip on the kitchen counter, scary sink, and all, was enough to settle him down.

Or maybe he just wants to star in his own novel!

Countertop Catastrophe - Installment 2

Madness.: I was in a glittering valley of absolute madness. Although the shiny surface gave my limbs little purchase and seemed like a dead thing, still a strange aroma of life seemed to be coming from it. Time and again, I slipped and slid across the basin, trying to discover what was going on here. It was apparent very shortly that the hole in the middle was where the unusual smells were coming from, but the hole was covered by a grating of sorts. Shivers chilled my spine as I wondered whether that covering was meant to keep things out… or keep them in! Not wanting to chance this any further, I found the strength to make my way out of that basin and back to the countertop. Putting that odd experience behind me, I made up my mind to move on. There were new adventures, new smells and curiosities, awaiting me elsewhere in this brave new world! So, being of an adventurous spirit, I braced myself and, not even looking, leaped into the void…

What a little sweetie he is! There is nothing like a kitten! How fun for you. Perhaps he is looking for a brother or sister??? :-)

Hello again to Anonymous Great Writer, and to Alice and to Anne-

Scooter definitely seems to think my lap is his and I have some nerve not sitting all the time so he can rest in it. He's also at the age where he knows he wants to get up on things but can't quite jump that high.

So there's a lot of frustration in his life.

However, he is definitely eating more, and he's survived my being out of the apartment twice today, so I think he's starting to feel more at home.

And when he isn't yowling, I'm feeling more at home with him as well!

Congratulations on Scooter; sounds like one groovy cat.

And who is this Great Anonymous Writer anyway?

Hi Glen-

Scooter (sitting on my lap and purring) is definitely in full groovy mode right now.

I'd love to know who the Great Anonymous Writer is, but your guess is as good as mine (or Scooter's).

How cute, Scooter is gorgeous!

I just read Life as We Knew It (I'm know, I'm late!) and loved it. I ordered Dead and Gone immediately after finishing it so I can spend more time in that world.

As an aspiring writer, I'm working my way through your writing tips from a few years ago and finding them really useful - thanks!

Hi Kats and welcome to the blog-

I'm always pleased to learn someone has just read Life As We Knew It and/or The Dead And The Gone, since I'd hate to think everyone who ever might read them already has. LAWKI was such a life changing experience for me, it's hard to realize it's only been out for two and a half years.

Hmm... I started this blog in the spring a couple of years ago. I should check the first entry and see if it has a birthday coming up.

Thanks for making me think of that!
