Help Please. I Need Some Help!

A very nice (and no doubt very talented) young reader sent me an email with an attachment of a song she wrote and recorded, inspired by Life As We Knew It.

She says the only way I can hear it is through iTunes. It's certainly true Windows Media won't let me, no matter how hard I beg it.

So I've downloaded iTunes (which no doubt I've done previously, since I've certainly bought things off of iTunes), only I don't know how to get the song from the email to iTunes to play it. And every time I try saving the iTunes file (or whatever it's called) I'm told I don't have permission and do I want to put it in the Staples file, so I say yes, but I have no idea where the Staples file is.

I know you know how to do all this, so I'm asking for your help. Explain it to me in simple easy to understand language (preferably English). Remember always that you're dealing with someone whose greatest technological accomplishment is posting videos of Scooter on this blog.

Thank you in advance. After I succeed in listening to the song, I'll come back and tell you how wonderful it is!

Try right clicking the attachment in the email. a little box should appear. click on open file with... then another box should appear. click on iTunes.
I hope that works.

I hope this helps!

If you have audio or video files on your computer, you can import them into iTunes so that they appear in your iTunes library.
Here are ways to add items from your computer to your iTunes library:

Drag a file or folder from the Finder to the iTunes window.

If you add a folder, all the files it contains are added to your library.

In iTunes, choose File > “Add to Library,” locate a file or folder, and then click Choose.

By default, iTunes places a copy of each audio file in the iTunes folder (Home/Music); the original file remains in the current location. For information about adding an alias to the file (instead of creating a copy), see Add items to your library without copying them to your iTunes folder.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Erik and Corey!

It is beautiful- a girl and a piano, a two minute song of sadness and longing.

And now it's in my iTunes library, and as long as I can figure out how to get there, I'll be able to listen to the Life As We Knew It song forever!!!

How flattering for this fan to create a song. I hope it gets posted on YouTube so we can all have a listen. W.S.

Hello W.S.

I do feel honored that the reader wrote such a lovely song and went to the effort of sending it to me.

I am a very fortunate person (and the Internet makes for a truly wonderful world).

I wish there was a way we could all hear it on this site.
