The Shade Of The Moon Has Arrived!

My first copy arrived today.

Priority mail too. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt loves me.

I know you know exactly what The Shade Of The Moon looks like, but here's what it looks like on my dining room table.

Here's what it looks like meeting its fellow Houghton Mifflin Harcourt moon books.

Although Scooter had many opportunities to read the book on my computer, he held out for the hardcover.

Whilst spoiled himself, Scooter does not like spoilers.

Since The Shade Of The Moon will be coming out in paperback and Chinese and audio, I felt it should get together with Life As We Knew It, The Dead And The Gone, and This World We Live In in hardcover, paperback, Chinese and audio.

Then I remembered The Shade Of The Moon Survival Kit Houghton Mifflin Harcourt had created.

And while Scooter enjoyed the book itself, the Survival Kit green whistle was a lot tastier.

I hope on August 13, you'll like The Shade Of The Moon as much as you'd like a green whistle!

I was at Barnes and Noble with my daughter yesterday and she came over and said the last book in the Moon series was out. I told her that it wasn't out yet as Ms. Pfeffer would have told us that it was if it was. Also, I had previously seen the second and third books prominently displayed so I thought she was talking about that. I showed her the picture of the book when we got home and she said 'that was it, dad.' I also called the store and they said they had it. Obviously, I was very, very wrong.

Hi Glen-

I guess I should have gone to a Barnes and Noble and bought myself a copy!

Congratulations!

No matter that I will always puzzle over the title. Congratulations!

I saw the book Marmie and Louise in the library today, and would have borrowed it, but I am overloaded with books. Have you read this one about the Alcotts?

In looking up Marmie and Louise on the internet, because I'd forgotten the title and wanted to ask you if you'd read it, I came across a blog called "The Cyberlibrarian Reads." Retired librarian. Fabulous graphic image. Have you seen that?

Have you seen my lost sock?

Fantastic news. There's still a Barnes and Noble one quarter of a mile from my house!

Good afternoon W.S. and Mr. Cavin-

I don't know where your sock is W.S. but Mr. Cavin can direct you to a Barnse and Noble, and Glen can tell you which one has a copy of The Shade Of The Moon!

Okay, I fell for the Mickey Spillane bit, but I've figured out that it must be you who writes the General Hospital, fictional cast-character novels. Right? Wrong.

Who knew that they did this? Makes my head hurt. Love In Maine and Maine Squeeze.. written by the GH character Connie Falconer. Prior to these, there was The Secret Life of Damian Spinelli.

So, I wonder how this works and I bet you could explain it - a writer working with the show develops a storyline that includes the writing of a book. The book is then actually written by show or other contract writers, but managing not to betray actual show storylines, but building on them? Is that it?

My only non-crumbled brain thought is that it's not a movie that should be made of the Moon books, it's a television series. w.S.

Hello! I am from Australia and have been checking your blog on and off for the past year or so. I am so excited that this book is coming out! Do you know if Australia has the same release date? Thanks, can't wait to read it repeatedly :)

Good evening w.S. and Verity-

I'd be perfectly happy if the moon books were turned into movies, TV shows, comic books, or limericks. I'm not fussy.

As far as getting The Shade Of The Moon in Australia, as far as I know, it will have to be special ordered from the U.S. The U.K. publisher of the other three books isn't publishing it.

Sorry!

I picked up my copy on August 10th, 2013 from the Barnes and Noble in Jefferson City, MO. I haven't been able to put it down! Susan's works are awe inspiring and this one is no exception! Love it!!!!

Yay! I wish my local B&N was closer than 35 miles away in Augusta, Maine! Maybe our local book shop has it. I must go tomorrow!

Can't wait. I know some of my students are dying to get a copy as well. Maybe I have to buy more than one! Who can wait for Baker and Taylor, anyway.

Thank you Nina Ruit, but I caution patience and thrift.

They're not my strong suits, but I hear tell they're excellent attitudes for the long run!

I've read the trilogy a couple of years ago, only in PDF format. I would be very happy to have hardcopy of these books. Local bookstore here in the Philippines don't have any of them. How can I grab a copy?

Good morning Ryan Vincent Jarabejo-

I don't have a lot of suggestions, except to maybe order used and inexpensive copies and have them shipped to you.

I have no idea how much that might cost, but beyond that, I don't know a less expensive method!

That helps Susan... Used copies don't occur to me...

I just got notification from Amazon.com that my copy has shipped! I'm so excited!!

Hi! Are there any plans for the books to be translated into Norwegian?

Susan Beth Pfeffer said...

Hi MsJoplin-

No plans that I know of!

Do you know when the release date for the audiobook will be? I am a huge fan of these books. Thanks for writing them!

Susan Beth Pfeffer said...

Hi Sarah Jameson-

No one has told me when the audiobook release date is.

But as soon as I know, I'll announce it here!

First of all, I think it's so cool that you respond to your fans. I LOVE this series!!!! I'm reading the 3rd book right now and I can't wait to purchase the 4th book. Does the series end with book #4? But mainly I just wanted to say, great job! I'm a picky reader but I loved these books. I will definitely read everything else you've written!
