In Honor Of My 200th Post, I've Redecorated

Happy Upcoming Thanksgiving! And for those of you in retail, may all your Fridays be black.

I've done a speck of redecorating. I moved the list of places Life Has We Knew It has been nominated for awards in over to thirdmoonbook. My guess is there won't be a conflict between those of you who don't want to be spoilered and those of you who obsessively read the list. Frankly, I didn't want to have to spend the next few months editing out states and countries where LAWKI didn't win, so I listed everyplace, even those where LAWKI has already lost, for my own convenience.

I also moved over there what the critics were saying about the dead and the gone and added some juicy quotes from John Green's NY Times review over here.

Having cleared up all that space, I added links to six (count them six) blog entries I wrote over a year ago on writing and editing, just in case any of you are interested.

I also changed the look of the blog, to make the links on the right a little easier to see.

I'm off to find the John Green review (not that I'll have to look that hard to find it) and maybe play with colors.

Once again, happy Thanksgiving. And please know how thankful I am to all of you.

Love the new look. Happy Thanksgiving to you! Do you have any plans? We're going out of state to visit family.

And a happy Thanksgiving to you Texas Pixie and to your non-Texas Pixie family.

My brother and sister-in-law are bringing the traditional Thanksgiving dinner of Peking Duck to my mother's, and we'll celebrate there.

Happy Thanksgiving! We're doing ours Saturday so today is just a hang-around-the-house day.

Enjoy your duck!

Hi Katie-Anne,

Thank you for your comment. I hope your teacher likes the dead and the gone, and that you, and other members of your class, enjoy it too.

I wrote d&g because I had such a good time writing Life As We Knew It that I wanted to explore the same disaster and see how other characters might respond. I chose a teenage boy in New York City, because I wanted someone as different from Miranda in LAWKI as possible.

You and your teacher might be intersted in reading my notes about d&g, after you've read the book, so you can see how it evolved from first idea until publication. There's a link to it on the right side of my blog.

Starting on Monday, I'll be writing a third book, a follow up to both LAWKI and d&g. Let's hope your teacher buys a copy of it a year and a half from now, when it's published!

Hi Linda Jacobs-

Here's to a great Thanksgiving dinner for your family. My guess is you'll go for something a little more traditional than Peking Duck!

No..no..no. You're supposed to have Peking Duck for Christmas! At least, that's what they do in the film, A Christmas Story. What a great scene!

Did Alan chop off it's head?

Hi Anonymous W. Slezak-

The duck was delicious, and I'm relieved to report I wasn't there when it met its tragic end.

Somehow I doubt Alan was there at the moment of its demise. At least he didn't mention anything about it.

Hi A.G.-

I'm looking forward to visiting your school, and seeing you, on Tuesday.

I don't know what to tell you about the third book, except that it won't be coming out this March. Next March (2010) maybe, but certainly not this March. I haven't really even begun to write it yet.

But feel free to ask questions about it on Tuesday. Maybe by then I'll have some answers!

Hello Mrs.Pfeffer
Personally I read some reviews on the book, Life As We Knew it. I haven't read it myself but, it sure seems like a very interesting book. I just have a few questions on it, please do your best to answer them. :)
1)What would be the solution and conflict of the story?
2)The main theme.
3)What would be the setting?
I would not lie and say this is for my own benefit, but I do need this for a report I'm doing for school. I really hope you can help.
Yours Truly;
M.R.

Hello M.R.-

I hope that in the time you've been waiting for me to answer your comments (I don't work on Saturdays), you've read Life As We Knew It.

I'm sure your answers to your questions would be as good as mine!
