The Only Thing Spoilered Is The Food I Threw Out

Let me start with the most important thing. My beloved http://www.deepdiscount.com/ is having its semi-annual sale of dvds. In honor of the pathetic economy, this time they're taking 25% off. Just type in the word DEAL when it asks for the promotional code. The sale ends sometime before Thanksgiving. Here's the link to the dvd page: http://www.deepdiscount.com/DVDs_stcVVcatId462355VVviewcat.htm

A friend of mine is especially interested in the Howdy Doody collection, but I recommend the MGM dvds, each now under five bucks.

Now onto my favorite topic, me. I was Gawkered. Or at least the Times review of the dead and the gone was Gawkered: http://gawker.com/5080513/times-critics-five-worst-lines-about-childrens-books

I'm delighted to report there is now a Life As We Knew It quiz. I'm even more delighted to report I got 100% (there are a couple of trick questions that almost got me): http://www.quia.com/quiz/1517275.html?AP_rand=338992508

As you know, because I've been kvetching about it for weeks, I cleaned my apartment. Don't believe me? I got visuals to prove it.

I didn't turn my refrigerator sideways. I just don't know how to get the picture to turn upright. Oh, the little white gift box towards the back of the second shelf? It holds a piece of candle wax that fell off one of my Sabbath candlesticks, that looks exactly like Topo Gigio. At some point I'll sell it on ebay and make enough money to retire in style.

Another thing I don't seem to know how to do is get pictures previously posted to move over to this entry, so here's a link to the one that had pictures of my den, so you can really be impressed with how neat and tidy things are now: http://susanbethpfeffer.blogspot.com/2008/05/six-pictures-are-worth-at-least-six.html

It's probably best I don't do this blogging thing for a living!

Deep discount is also doing 25% off everything until November 23rd. Promo code SUPERSALE. I just ordered a bunch of stuff. :)

Hi Texas Pixie-

Thanks for giving the date and the alternate code word (I actually ordered some stuff yesterday, and will order more next week, using different code words).

I just went over there to see if the sale applied to calendars, but it doesn't seem to. They'll get my calendar order anyway, since they have such great prices, but it would have been even more fabulous with an additional 25% off.

Yay. I got 90% on the quiz! The question I answered incorrectly was the question about what time in December did they eat their only meal at. oops.

Texas Pixie has the date right, and there is at least one more promo codes you can use -- DD1108. I think they may also be using promo codes SAVE, DDAF, and DVDTALK. The sale only includes "currently available DVDs, Blu-ray discs, HDDVDs, UMDs, Posters, Storage Units, and 'Fun Stuff". It would be nice if they at least included CDs and books, but I guess that's just too much to ask. :)

I got 90%, too, and got the time they ate wrong.

Your bookcases and chairs look so inviting. Makes me want to just curl up with a good book! (maybe one of yours! LOL)

Good morning to Caroline (for whom it probably isn't morning) and Anonymous (your guess is as good as mine) and Linda Jacobs (where good morning is a safe assumption)-

I'm very proud of my 10 out of 10 on the LAWKI quiz. I had to figure out the what time of day question, and I almost got the question about what the first catastrophe was wrong. But what really pleased me about doing so well is I haven't reread LAWKI yet (I'll be doing so on my trip to Missouri later this week), so my guesswork was all from memory.

It's absurd the things I take pride in. Then again, most people don't publish photographs of their incredibly clean refrigerator and freezer (and if they do, the refrigerator doesn't look sideways).

I always think of Deep Discount as being some secret club, with membership consisting of me and the people I've told about it. But yesterday, the woman who cuts my hair mentioned the sale, so I guess the word is out. I need the two different code words because I was impatient to order some dvds, but wanted to hold off on others that come out later this month.

Life is so complex. But at least I have a clean refrigerator!

Hi, I got 90% on your quiz. Last question wrong....how could I forget about the carolers???? Well, because of the talk on Deep Discounts, and I'm thinking of holiday gifts and viola! There on question 10 is the mention of gifts! My mind simply was on shopping, thank you very much! lol

Yeah, I hadda laugh at the comment about shoes in the NYTimes. Obviously Mr. Green never saw Sex and the City. Doesn't he know how important shoes are to a gal? Okay....I'm just being silly, but it is my birthday (yes, the flags are for me) and I need to stop doing homework and do some retail therapy. Off to Deep Discounts for me.

Happy Birthday Anne M!

A friend of mine in high school had a Veteran's Day birthday, and I've never forgotten that. It's a special day.

Enjoy your shopping (what a fun birthday activity that is), and have a wonderful birthday, with lots of love and fun and the smallest amount of homework possible.
