Alexander

I spoke to the vet a few minutes ago. He said Alexander's condition was untreatable, and we agreed to have him put to sleep.

I want to thank all of you who e-mailed me best wishes for him.

Before I spoke to the vet, I e-mailed the people who won copies of the audiobook. Those people who need to send me their addresses should. I anticipate spending the rest of today sobbing, since that seems to be all I'm capable of doing right now, but I'll try to get to the post office before leaving for ALA on Saturday.

Dear Susan,

I am soooo sorry for your loss. I had to put my cat to sleep on May 30, and I'm still hurting over it. You and your family are in my thoughts. Many hugs to you.

Hi Susan:

I am very sorry to hear about your loss.

I'm sure you know it's for the best, although that doesn't help with the hurt.

Dear Susan. Our hearts are with you at this time of such sorrow. May Alexander find many moggie playmates across the rainbow bridge. Warm regards, Judi, Cushla and Pangur (Australia)

Losing a pet is so sad. They are like children. We've put 3 to rest and vowed never to get another one.

If you don't get to the d&g audio mailings until next week, no problem as far as I'm concerned.

Awww, I know its a day late, but i am so very sorry for your loss. i lost a pet not too long ago as well. But my pet seemed to love books (he was always nibbling and pushiing mine around) and now i'm sure he'll av tons of books to play with. And i hope your cat has lots of catnip (or whatever else he loves) to play with.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I had to put my Harley to rest just a few days ago. It's all so raw. I too have eyes that cannot stop tearing up. My heart goes out to both your Alexander and my Harley. Maybe they are someplace running around together enjoying their newly found youth...

Thank you Stephanie and everyone else for your comments-

I still miss Alexander and I still have moments of great sadness when I think about him.

I went through a passionate desire for a kitten towards the end of last week, but didn't end up with one.

Emily, I know, would hate having a kitten, so right now I'm leaning towards being a one cat family. I've had two cats for decades, so this is an adjustment for me.

But not, apparently, for Emily!
