This World We Live In ARC Update

I've been harassing those nice people at Harcourt for information about the status of This World We Live In advance reading copies (aka ARCs), and now I have some (information, not ARCs).

The ARCs will be published circa Oct. 12 and they'll be sending me a box of them that week.

From the sound of it, I'll be getting more ARCs than I'll need, and if that's the case, I'll be sharing the extras with people here. Assuming, of course, that people here will want one. If not, I'm sure Scooter will be more than happy to shred them all over the apartment.

When the ARC box arrives, I'll let you all know. Well, all of you except Scooter!

Goody! I've already got a request into my HMH rep for a galley as soon as it's available. Looks like it will be the top of my list after the fall tradeshows!

Hi Heather Doss-

I'm looking forward to getting my copy (and reading it) also.

Actually, I'm going to treat myself to some self-indulgence (which I do all the time, but usually in caloric fashion) and read LAWKI, d&g, and then TW.

Whoo. That's like 1,000 pages of the world coming to an end.

I'd better stack up on some chocolate for the great reading marathon!

Ooooo I can't wait, I hope I am able to get one! I really enjoyed this series :)

I would LOVE a copy. I re-read LAWKI and d&g every few months, and have turned on numerous people to these wonderful stories.

Hello to Corey B and to Candice-

It's good to know people will want ARCs of TW, partly because it's good for my ego, and partly because Scooter just knocked over a large vase and spilled water all over my kitchen. I dried things up with the paper towels he'd previously shreded, and I'm not really in the mood to indulge him!

OOO! ARCS!! I hope I can get one. I loved the series and can't wait for TWWLI to come out!

My gosh, I totally didn't even know you were writing another one! I love this series! *LOVE IT*

I can't wait! I'll definitely see if I can send in a request. I can't wait for it! I always devour them so quickly!

Oh my god, I'm SO looking forward to this book. I hope its as good as the first two books. I'd love to have a copy to see if it's really good.

Good late Friday afternoon to Syd and Kelsey and Kelly S.-

Thanks for your enthusiastic responses. Writing books is such a peculiar thing to do. You work in isolation and you can only hope people will want to read what you wrote.

It's always good to find out people are interested!

OOO!!!!!
How do you get them?!? I love reading, but at my age, no one tells me these things.
I thought you might want to know, I'm in a bookclub, and I am going to pick LAWKI for the October book.

Hi again. I haven't bean on here for a long time due to lack of internet coverage in the middle of nowhere in an RV,and in the blog entry'' Oh Happy Days'' I saw that you mentioned you were doing some traveling. Are you coming to Omaha, Nebraska anytime soon? I'd love to meet you.

I can't wait for TWWLI to come out! I absolutely love the realism in your stories. The end of TDATG was shocking! But nevertheless, it was a great story. I have yet to read LAWKI.

I would LOVE an ARC if in fact you do get a large quantity. I have loved your books and CANNOT WAIT!

Good Sunday morning to Jill and Rebecca Herman and sarah and Readergirl321 and Anonymous and abbyscam3-

Actually, it's a really beautiful Sunday morning. School starts around here on Tuesday, so naturally we're finally getting some nice weather!

Jill, I am going to be traveling around this fall, but I won't be anywhere near Nebraska. Maybe some other time.

Thank you Sarah for the video blog review.

What I'll probably do with the ARCs is figure out how many I have left and let all of you know what's available. Then I'll ask you to email me if you're interested (again, this won't be until October). If there are more ARCs than requests, then everyone who requests one will get one. If there are more requests than ARCs, then I'll do a lottery. That's what I've done in the past here and it seems to work out all right.

So stick around for another few weeks, and then we'll all know better what's going on!

Hi April Henry and Librarina-

Thanks for your interest.

If I need to, I'll be dusting off the Bolivian Hat mid-October.

But maybe I'll have enough copies for everyone who's expressed interest.

I'll know better in six weeks!

Ooh, I'm excited to hear that! Couldn't put down Life As We Knew It! Definitely itching for a third book!

Good early Monday evening Linda Jacobs and melissa @ 1br-

I certainly hope I'll have enough copies for everyone that's expressed interest.

I guess we'll know for sure this October!

I would love to read an ARC too. I've already preordered TWWLI but it seems so long away until I get to read it!

Dawn said...

Me! Me! I would like the arc, Me!!! My birthday is in October---perfect timing!

Can not wait to read it! Do you know if Harcourt will have them at the ALA Midwinter Conference in Boston?

Fingers crossed!!!

Dawn

Susan Beth Pfeffer said...

Hello Kats. Hello Dawn-

I love preorders. I check the Amazon number for TW all the time (well, not all the time, but occasionally), and I'm perpetually delighted to find it actually has one.

Unless I misread the email I was sent about ARCs (always a possibility), there will be some at Mid-Winter. For anybody attending NCTE, there will definitely be ARCs there.

I would love an ARC! :) I just finished reading TDATG and I'm so excited for a new book. April just seems so far away!

Susan Beth Pfeffer said...

Belated hellos to Karen and Nancy and a very prompt one to Pam M.-

I'll do an update when the ARCs are in my hot little hands (okay, my hot plump hands).

Meanwhile, the official jacket is there to be looked at over at thirdmoonbook (look for the link on the right side of this blog).

I'm addicted to this series :)

(And I loved the one book post, what a great idea. Might have to get that going at my school.)
